  • Antoine Bourlion was from a famous family of Marseille cartier and was the youngest son of Jean Bourlion. Antoine Bourlion was known to be engaged in the fight against the policy of taxation.

According to my researches, it seems that this tarot was made by the same engraver that made the tarot of his older brother François Bourlion (initials VR). Unfortunatelly «L’Amoureux », the 3 of coin and the 8 of spade are missing so I restaured the minor arcanas and I replaces the 6th trump by the Claude Burdel’s card. This deck is one of the smallest tarot de Marseille known today and is a type 2 TdM.

This edition of the Antoine Bourlion’s tarot was restaured in Aix en Provence, about 30 km from Marseille by Florent Giraud with the permission of the MUCEM.
